I can understand why meta tags are now ignored, as meta tags have been, and would be, misused if search engines paid them any attention. A website's rank with Google is primarily affected by the visible content the website. Meta tags nowadays are ignored and do not have any bearing on how a website's pages are ranked. The best thing that a website can do to improve its page rank is to have comprehensive relevant information on a subject matter, preferably updated regularly. For example, a blog could be added to the website.

The two main ways of increasing your site's ranking is:

1. Have good content that is relevant to a niche subject.
2. Have high-ranking sites link to your site. You can employ the services of search engine optimisation (SEO) companies to try to buy links for you from other high-ranking websites. I think this is a waste of money for a business such as yours, the best way to increase your ranking is 1.

JQuery is a powerful Javascript shorthand. The best video I have seen for it is from the Drupal Dojo and can be viewed here: http://blip.tv/file/193619. The video does seem to cut out 1/3 of the way through, but it is still useful.
